Position : Seasonal Floor Manager (Early November to January 6)
Bring the magic of the holidays to life at Brooklyn Botanic Garden! We are seeking a Seasonal Floor Manager to oversee front-of-house operations during our busy and beloved Lightscape Season . Opportunities for growth and continued employment after the season are available.
About the Role
The Seasonal Floor Manager plays a key leadership role in ensuring seamless service across multiple outlets during Lightscape, with a focus on our sit-down restaurant Lightscape Lodge , bar and lounge areas. You will support and supervise front-of-house staff, maintain excellent guest service standards, and help create a warm and memorable experience for all who visit the Garden.
Training of FOH staff begins mid-November , with Lightscape running from November 20 through January 4 . This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that requires both operational expertise and a strong guest-first mindset. Opportunities for continued employment may be available after the season.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise Front-of-House Operations : Oversee service flow for multiple outlets, ensuring smooth transitions during peak times.
Lead and Support the Team : Guide servers, bartenders, and hosts through service, assist with training, and promote a positive work environment.
Guest Experience : Act as the point of contact for guest concerns, resolve issues promptly, and ensure an elevated, welcoming atmosphere.
Operational Readiness : Ensure dining spaces and kiosks are properly set and staffed, monitor cleanliness and sanitation, and enforce safety standards.
Communication and Coordination : Liaise between FOH and BOH teams, and collaborate with management to meet daily service goals.
Cash and Closing Procedures : Support end-of-night reporting, assist with POS troubleshooting, and ensure accurate cash handling.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of experience as a restaurant floor manager, shift supervisor, or equivalent leadership role
Background in upscale dining, catering, or large-scale event operations
ServSafe or Food Protection Manager Certification preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to thrive under pressure and maintain composure during high-volume service
Passion for hospitality and a commitment to creating memorable guest experiences
