Maintenance Technician

JOB PURPOSE or JOB SUMMARY :

TheMaintenance Mechanic I is responsible for keeping the facilityoperating and repair any problems when they are discovered beforethey have a chance to worsen.

The Maintenance Mechanic will berequired to perform a wide range of Preventative Maintenance tasksaround the facility including the repair of abnormal machinebreakdowns.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES andRESPONSIBILITIES :

Performspreventative maintenance on plant equipment as required by the PMschedule including

lubrication and cleaning.

Responds to machinery breakdowns in a manner to minimizedowntime and performs minor repairs on

plant equipment.Repairs or replaces defective parts using hand and power tools asrequired.

Rootcause problems by observingmechanical devices in operation listening for problems; usingprecision

measuring and testing instruments

Controls downtime by informing production workers ofroutine preventive maintenance techniques;

monitoringcompliance

Assists the other mechanics asrequired with major repairs. Contributes to team effort byaccomplishing

related results as needed

Works with outside contractors as required to accomplishmaintenance and project needs especially

regardingbuilding equipment and plant utilities.

• Establishes and updates needs and methods for preventivemaintenance on all equipment.
• Maintainsadequate inventories of required spare parts requesting replacementparts as needed.
• Operates snow removal andsaltspreading equipment and participates in other activities forsafety of

building access and grounds.

• Maintains compliance with all GMP 5S SOP’s andSafety polices
• Completes and documents allWork Orders in a timely manner
• UsesMaintenance Software (BEAM) to enter new work orders and to recordcompleted work orders
• Maintains continuityamong work teams by documenting and communicating actionsirregularities and

continuing needs

• Perform changeover operations of some productionequipment
• Works in a safe courteous andeffective manner.
• Maintains technicalknowledge (continued education technical publications personalnetwork)
• Uphold the principles and practicesof the GQM business management system including QCThinking

Kaizen Innovation and the corporatephilosophy.

Participate in regulatorycompliance activities related to the job function including qualityaudits adverse

event reporting for company products andadherence to Good Documentation Practices for reportingand

record keeping.

Education :

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experienceand / or Training :

• Minimum of 12years’ experience in maintenance mechanicposition
• Strong mechanical and manufacturingexperience
• Ability to move around the plantand to stand for up to 8 hours per day
• Ability to bend kneel crouch climb stairs and ladders to reach andrepair machinery and building systems
• Sufficientdexterity and experience to use hand tools and powertools.
• Maintenance Mechanics are required toprovide their own basic tools to perform routine maintenance andrepairs of equipment.
• Ability to workoutdoors as required.
• Communication skills todiagnose problems and maintain working relationships with machineoperators
• Organized and detailoriented
• Demonstratedprofessionalism
