FULL TIME, HOURLY POSITION
PURPOSE :
Perform all General Plant and Level I duties with direction from higher level welders. Operate Oxy-fuel torch or perform oxy-fuel cutting operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques
- Interprets blueprints,specifications, diagrams, orschematicsto determine appropriate welding process
- Performs all welding functions including set-ups associated with the operation of the plant with specific emphasis on basic welding knowledge and use of basic hand and power tools
- Assist Senior welders as needed as well as assist weld cover on a tank
- Operate and regulate Oxy-fuel torch or perform oxy-fuel cutting operations
- Welding using TIG (gas metal tungsten welding), MIG (gas metal arc welding), SMAW (Shielded metal arc welding), FCAW (Flux cored arc welding) for steel, stainless steel and aluminum, and use of different kinds of welding rods
- Operate overhead crane under the direction of Senior Welders
- Fill out DIRS and necessary paperwork under the direction of higher-level welders
- Perform work on tanks that have been final painted
- Must be able to read blueprints, layout and weld assigned components to specification, clean refuse, splatter, slag, and tack markers.
Uses assigned stencil to label work
- Must perform 3G aluminum MIG welding with little Supervision
- Must pass 3G FCAW test and a 1G SMAW test with E7018
- Must pass 3G SMAW test with E37018 and a stainless to carbon FCAW fillet test in addition to maintaining all lower-level test standards
- Have an understanding of Basic Insulation Level (BIL) and basics of Transformers
- Perform all Welder B duties
- Works with minimum supervision.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to identify what type of wire needed for welding material.
- Ability to perform tests and weld repairs as necessary.
- Must have excellent attendance.
- Can read a Welding Procedure Specification and perform the procedure with little assistance.
- Ability to push / pull / lift up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to climb a ladder
- Must pass a 3G FCAW test and a 1G SMAW test with E7018.
- Proficient in English reading and writing, and Conversant in English.
