Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Transportation Planner I to be based in Rocky Hill, CT or Chelmsford, MA or Boston, MA.
This position is expected to begin in February 2022.*

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to :
- Assist with preparation, updates and maintenance of multimodal transportation planning studies, including Comprehensive Service Plans, needs and feasibility studies, alternatives analyses, and corridor studies, as examples
- Prepare GIS mapping and related graphics for use in reports and presentations related to specific projects
- Assist with implementation of public involvement plans, including website development and maintenance, use of social media, and serving as liaison to community groups, DOTs, rail, transit, transportation and planning agencies
- Produce innovative and visually appealing technical graphics and exhibits for use in reports, presentations and other deliverables
- Conduct extensive research in specific or general project areas
- Assist with writing and presenting formal and technical reports, working papers and correspondence
- Assist with the development of strategies to promote economic, community and transit-oriented development consistent with project goals
- Support the evaluation of alternatives for transportation improvements, including development of goals and objectives, evaluation criteria, adequacy of community facilities in meeting current and projected needs
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Planning, Transportation, Urban Planning or related study
- Knowledge of principles and practices of transportation planning, research and data collection or willingness to learn
- Analytical skills to interpret data for reports
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including writing, editing and preparation of technical reports and presentations to government entities and various committees, communities and general public
- Knowledge of transportation planning related software, including GIS mapping, census data analytical tools, Microsoft Office suite of programs
- Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and strong problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in Planning or Transportation
