POSITION SUMMARY
The Excess and Obsolete Inventory team is responsible for working with cross functional teams (DC Operations, Inventory Control, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Supply Operations, Supply Planning and Demand Planning) to identify and reduce excess Medical Distribution and Global Products inventory.
The Excess and Obsolete Inventory Analyst will play a key role in executing a continual E&O Process which will require feedback and action planning from multiple owners to eliminate unproductive inventory.
The role will utilize reports, systems and analytics to identify categories of excess and root cause, then take steps to eliminate proactively or develop new processes to remove future risk.
Manages excess down to an item / DC level. Executes plans to hit strategic initiatives and goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Excess and Obsolete monthly process by using reports and systems to identify and root cause address excess inventory.
Take actions to address or identify owners to resolve. Document action plans and follow up until the action is complete.
- Analyze financial reserve list to recoup some monies by IBTing, selling, or returning inventory.
- Be knowledgeable on any excess purchased through buy backs, forward buys, etc. and ensure there is an action plan and timeline to sell through.
Follow up until the inventory is gone.
- Investigate and understand the root causes of excess and work with team members to develop new processes that will proactively eliminate risk.
- Assist in projects to move excess inventory. This includes but is not limited to selling to Alt Source providers, putting on Amazon Marketplace, giving to charitable organizations, selling in auctions etc.
Follow up for full execution.
- Evaluate and process returns or escalate return opportunities to the Supply Operations team or Supplier Relations.
- Work to balance inventory through IBTs, look for opportunities to enhance dynamic deployment minimizing manual keying of orders.
Ensure the IBT’s are cost effective and monitor movement of the inventory. Assist in moving inventory if exit buyouts are at risk.
Influence cross functional teammates to take steps to action excess and obsolete inventory, document action plans, and follow up until the inventory is gone.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree required, concentration in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or related technical field preferred
- 5 or more years of Supply Chain experience (supply chain planning, inventory management, operations, manufacturing planning and / or forecasting)
- Preferred experience utilizing Lean principles and tools (Flow, Pull, Kanban, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, etc.)
- Or any combination of education and experience to meet the above requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Proven ability and willingness to develop relationships with internal functional partners
- Experience in all aspects of supply chain planning, management, and operations.
- Ability to process large amounts of data and deliver a concise recommendation
- Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
- Ability to root cause problems and develop new processes to improve.
- Ability to work effectively in a constantly changing, fast paced team environment

- Proficiency with Excel, other MS Office applications and data visualization tools (Power BI)

- Flexibility to support multiple projects with ability to meet all deadlines
