Selby Jennings has been retained to find a Strategy Associate to conduct and compile research, develop reports, create presentations, and manage special projects.
The position will engage in daily and proactive outreach to gather information and insights related to a wide variety of projects.
The successful candidate will be analytical-minded, proficient in financial modeling, have strong business acumen, be conversant with business terminology, be able to work autonomously, and have strong interpersonal skills.
This role requires thinking big picture, focusing on the overall impact of the task or project at hand. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience before attending business school as this role will gain exposure to a diverse set of opportunities.
The ideal background for this opportunity is several years in a consulting role as a business analyst handling strategy and operations.
Responsibilities
Work closely with the founder on projects relating to investment and giving decisions, family foundation and personal investments;
including providing analyst support on special projects
- Review and analyze companies to determine key drivers impacting company P&Ls, balance sheet, cash flow
- Conduct research for the firm's Foundation
- Create analytical reports and models to further understand key business drivers and metrics
- Work with accounting departments of family office and foundation on projects
- Design and implement forecast models and tools
- Attend annual investment meetings, in-person and by phone, and report back findings to principal
- Work closely with the founder to evaluate growth opportunities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or economics
- 3-year minimum experience handling financial evaluations and strategy in consulting, investment banking or audit.
- Excellent with numbers, expert proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint, pivot tables, financial modeling.
- Proven ability to drive projects to completion
- Results-oriented and will link analysis to business goals
- Quick study, intellectually curious and committed to continuous learning
- Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
- A self-starter with a positive and proactive approach
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical writing skills a must
- Avid reader
- Ability to multi-task and shift priorities as necessary with high sense of urgency
