Managing Director, Human Resources

The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) is the association that represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies. Our members provide electricity for more than 250 million Americans and operate in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. As a whole, the electric power industry supports more than 7 million jobs in communities across the United States. In addition to our U.S. members, EEI has more than 50 international electric companies as International Members, and hundreds of industry suppliers and related organizations as Associate Members.

EEI is looking to add a mission-driven strategic leader for its human resources function. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position will work to develop and align human capital strategy with business objectives across EEI.

The Managing Director, Human Resources will lead a team of human resources professionals, providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of talent acquisition, workforce planning, compliance, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, professional development, and the HR technology strategy. This individual will collaborate with other senior leaders to ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains talent while fostering a high-performance culture.

Important responsibilities of the Managing Director, Human Resources include :

  • Develop and execute against a roadmap that aligns operational and strategic priorities to EEI's business objectives.
  • Drive process improvement in HR operations, leveraging technology and data to enhance efficiency and decision-making.
  • Lead HR operations and oversee the HR policies, programs and practices that support a consistent and compliant environment for EEI employees.
  • Oversee EEI's total rewards strategy, ensuring compensation and benefits are competitive, consistent with market, and fiscally sound.
  • Anticipate and drive future human capital requirements by understanding EEI's organizational priorities and creating shared ownership of outcomes.
  • Build and sustain a strong workforce through proactive recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and succession planning.
  • Lead change management for organization-wide initiatives
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the senior leadership team.

Required qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business administration, or related field is required. A Master's degree in Human Resources or related field is preferred. SHRM-S / CP or S / PHR certification desired.
  • 15+ years of related experience, with at least 10 years in leadership and development of human resources staff.
  • Experience leading Human Resources for an industry association or other not-for-profit organization is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and conflict resolution skills to interact effectively with a wide range of people and situations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compensation strategy, and HR best practices.
  • Able to leverage technology to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Proven ability to influence at all levels and drive change through collaboration and trust.
  • Compensation :

    The salary range for this role is between $194,700 - $292,100. Starting annual salary will be determined on individual qualifications.
