Analyst, Storage Engineering
Analyst, Storage Engineering partners with multiple business functions to gather inputs, criteria, and desired outcomes to deliver analytics and recommendations used during distribution center construction, expansion of existing sites, and improvements to existing buildings. You will work collaboratively with DC and Branch Operations, Network Strategy, Supply Chain Optimization, and Inventory Management to ensure analytics from all teams guide decisions that support the design and build of the Grainger distribution network. You will report to the Manager, Storage Engineering Design & Optimization. This position is Hybrid requiring up to 75% travel and presence onsite at either the Lake Forest, IL headquarters or at one of our Distribution Centers across the United States. Distribution Center locations include the following: Southaven, Mississippi Macedonia, Ohio Roanoke, Texas Fountain Inn, South Carolina Jacksonville, Florida Kansas City, Missouri Minooka, Illinois Patterson, California Bordentown, New Jersey Denver, Colorado Plymouth, Minnesota Tukwila, Washington Louisville, Kentucky Gresham, Oregon Houston, Texas Mira Loma, California
You will analyze operational and storage data to identify trends, diagnose capacity constraints, and develop recommendations that improve storage utilization, throughput, and network performance. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business needs, gather requirements, and build analytical solutions that support distribution center design and optimization. Translate complex analyses into clear, actionable insights by validating data, challenging assumptions, and communicating recommendations that enable informed business decisions. Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimize processes, standardize best practices, and improve storage efficiency and product flow across the network. Manage work with ownership and accountability, balancing multiple priorities while delivering accurate, timely results that support planning and operational objectives. Support strategic operational and supply chain projects by applying analytical thinking, business acumen, and collaborative problem-solving during facility startups, expansions, and storage reconfiguration efforts.
You have Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field. 2+ years related Analytics experience. Project management skills to manage resources, purchase supplies, and execute tasks within budget. Ability to find creative solutions on small to medium size complex projects. Partner with peers and leaders on developing recommendations based on business context and data analysis. Proficiency in Snowflake, Power BI, SQL, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint. Exposure to warehouse management systems preferred. Up to 75% travel within Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Other international travel, as necessary.
