Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled AS400 Developer with 6 to 12 years of experience to design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications on the AS400 platform. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in RPG programming, DB2, and system integration, alongside a solid track record of translating complex business processes into robust technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and enhance core software applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform.
Write, test, and optimize high-performance programs using RPGLE, ILE RPG, and Free-Format RPG.
Design and manage DB2/400 databases, including complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data structures.
Analyze business requirements and design end-to-end technical solutions.
Conduct thorough unit testing, debugging, system integration, and performance tuning.
Facilitate integration between AS400 core systems and external applications or third-party APIs.
Provide tier-3 production support, troubleshooting, and timely root-cause resolution for critical issue tickets.
Participate in peer code reviews, enforce strict coding standards, and maintain accurate technical documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience: 6 12 years of dedicated, hands-on experience in AS400 / IBM i development.
Core Programming: Advanced proficiency in RPGLE, ILE RPG, Free-Format RPG, and Control Language (CL).
Database & Querying: Strong knowledge of DB2/400, embedded SQL, DDS (Display, Printer, Physical, and Logical Files), and stored procedures.
System Operations: Solid understanding of AS400 system architecture, job queues, spool files, and system monitoring tools.
Technical Acumen: Proven capability in performance tuning, advanced debugging, and standard Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
Soft Skills: Outstanding analytical problem-solving abilities and strong verbal/written communication skills.
