Position Summary

A leading commercial mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Project Executive to provide strategic leadership for multiple commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects throughout the Greater Houston area. This executive leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, financial performance, client satisfaction, and team development across a portfolio of large, complex projects.

The Project Executive serves as the primary liaison between executive leadership, operations, project management teams, and clients while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This individual will mentor Project Managers, develop long-term client relationships, and play a key role in business growth and operational strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Provide executive oversight of multiple commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects.
  • Lead and mentor Project Managers through all phases of project execution, from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Ensure projects achieve company objectives for safety, quality, schedule, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop project execution strategies for complex mechanical systems.
  • Review project schedules, manpower planning, procurement, and production performance.
  • Promote continuous improvement and operational excellence across all project teams.

Financial Management

  • Oversee a portfolio of projects totaling $50M–$200M+ annually.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including: Budgets, Cost forecasting, Revenue recognition, Cash flow, Gross profit margins
  • Review monthly financial reports and implement corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Approve major change orders, subcontract agreements, and purchasing commitments.

Client Relations & Business Development

  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, and general contractors.
  • Serve as the executive point of contact for key clients.
  • Support business development efforts by identifying new project opportunities.
  • Participate in negotiated work, interviews, and strategic pursuits.

Team Leadership

  • Mentor, coach, and develop Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and Project Engineers.
  • Build high-performing teams and develop future operational leaders.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and establish professional development plans.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented culture.

Preconstruction & Project Planning

  • Partner with estimating and preconstruction teams during project pursuits.
  • Review project risks, budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and execution strategies.
  • Participate in constructability reviews, value engineering, and contract negotiations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial mechanical construction.
  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing multiple Project Managers or operations teams.
  • Demonstrated success overseeing large commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of: HVAC systems, Plumbing systems, Process piping, Sheet metal systems, Mechanical construction operations
  • Proven ability to manage multi-million-dollar project portfolios.
  • Strong financial, operational, and business management skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and client relationship abilities.

Preferred

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Mechanical Engineering background.
  • Experience with Design-Build project delivery.
  • Experience in healthcare, mission-critical/data centers, higher education, manufacturing, industrial, or life sciences projects
