Overview
VTG is looking for a Launch Systems Safety Analyst in Colorado Springs, CO.
What will you do?
In general, the Launch Systems Safety Engineer (LSSA) provides technical analysis of hazards associated with spacecraft design, aerospace ground support equipment / hardware, facilities and processing for the Office of Space Launch in compliance with Air Force Requirements, and NRO Corporate Policies. LSSA contractors shall possess at least the Technical Level III (T3). The following additional qualifications are desired :
Be a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Professional Engineer (PE)
Familiarity with NRO programs and SV System Safety design as well as the NRO Safety Review Team process
Working knowledge of range safety requirements EWR 127-1 or 91-710
Knowledge of Nuclear safety and / or ionizing / non-ionizing radiation
Experience working in an integrated contracting environment / team
Specific tasks include :
Ensures implementation of applicable 30th / 45th Space Wing range safety requirements for NRO SV programs, support equipment / hardware and facilities
Reviews and assesses NRO / Operations & Maintenance facilities and equipment work authorization requests (i.e. engineering change requests, preliminary project reviews, etc.)
Reviews and assesses safety data packages produced by the satellite vehicle or facility contractors or other contractors using exclusive use NRO facilities
Reviews and assesses procedures and plans for SV programs, launch vehicle integration, and Operations & Maintenance and other support contractors as applicable
Participates in / develops tailoring of safety requirements documents per AFSPCMAN 91-710 (or contract equivalent) for NRO programs and NRO facilities
Conducts / supports facility readiness walk-downs prior to SV program arrival and propellant operations
Reviews and assesses program / support contractor explosive procedures and site plans
Attend and participate in preliminary design reviews (PDR), critical design reviews (CDR), ground operations working groups (GOWGs), ground operations readiness reviews (GORR), technical interchange meetings (TIM), splinter groups, etc., in evaluation of system safety requirements for large missile, space vehicle, rocket, payload, spacecraft, pre-launch, launch, post-launch / range operations and / or recovery operations
System safety hazards analysis, design, or research / development testing of (1) ordnance, (2) explosives, (3) other types of munitions, (4) pyrotechnics, (5) cryogenic, (6) toxic / hypergolic propellants, (7) high pressure (HP) gases, (8) radioactive materials, or (9) other hazardous systems / components
Preparation and / or review and approval of hazardous processing procedures
Safety monitoring of hazardous operations

Position requires a current and active TS / SCI with Poly; Years experience can be subsituted as follows :
5 YEARS EXP = ASSOCIATES 10 YEARS EXP = BACHELORS 15 YEARS EXP = MASTERS
Experience and Ability to :

Pay Range : VTG's estimated starting pay range is $150,000 - 210,000 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range
