Construction Manager
The Construction Manager has overall responsibility for the design, permitting, material acquisition, construction and tie-in of outside plant construction projects and programs. The employee will monitor all aspects of the project and expedite or escalate as appropriate to achieve the cost, quality, and schedule goals for the project. The Construction Manager will also be responsible for generating work prints (design in CAD), cost estimates for job orders, inspections, and invoice reconciliation.
Review engineering design prints for accuracy and ability to build project as designed to include clear and concise prints, required units, applicable permits, right-of-way information, MOP requirements, and site survey forms.
Communicate with city, county and state permitting agencies
Work with other entities, internal and external, to verify easements and licenses
Work with private building owners to secure building entrance approval and installation of building entrances
Monitor contractor progress, contractor quality inspection, and timely completion of assigned projects
Coordinate results with Broadband implementation and operations team for success of projects
Monitor and ensure SSP (Single Source Provider) on track to meet service level agreements
Issue MOPS and coordinate with SSP and NOC for successful completion
Inspections and reconciliation of job orders
Provide reports to OSP Manager as requested
Read and interpret construction documents, i.e., prints and plans as well as splicing diagrams that are used in the splicing of fiber optics
Analyze OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) test results and coordinate repairs as needed
Conduct 65% of work in the field and 35% in the office on average; varies per market
Minimum Requirements: College degree in Engineering or a related field and 0-2 years professional level experience; or 4+ years professional level related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience required.
Do you have:
2-6 years of commercial construction or telecom industry experience
Valid driver's license
Strong OSP construction knowledge with ability to read and create construction drawings to facilitate new builds, relocations, and emergency repairs
Intermediate knowledge of permitting, engineering, contractor management, fiber splicing, project management, different types of underground and aerial cable plant installation and maintenance
Intermediate computer skills utilizing: Microsoft Word, Excel, JobTrac, G/Comms, MicroStation and/or other CAD/E systems
