Civil Estimator
The Civil Estimator performs detailed construction estimating for a wide range of civil projects, including grading, land clearing, utility piping, and complete civil site packages. This role prepares and analyzes project documentation, develops accurate cost estimates using specialized software, and supports preconstruction efforts for residential subdivisions, hotels, multi-family developments, and commercial projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive construction estimating for civil projects, including grading, land clearing, utility piping, underground utilities, and full civil site packages.
- Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), quantity takeoffs, change orders, and R5s (estimates of materials needed to complete projects).
- Review, interpret, and analyze blueprints and construction documents for residential subdivisions, hotels, multi-family developments, and commercial projects.
- Utilize estimating software, including Bluebeam and Insite Elevation Pro, to develop accurate and detailed project estimates.
- Support bidding and preconstruction processes by preparing proposals, pricing, and budgets for civil and utility construction projects.
- Collaborate with project management and construction management teams to ensure estimates align with project scope, design-build requirements, and scheduling needs.
- Assist in the development and refinement of construction budgets and pricing strategies for civil site and underground utility projects.
- Contribute to project planning by identifying cost-saving opportunities, potential risks, and constructability considerations.
- Participate in project meetings as needed to clarify estimates, discuss scope, and support project handoff to operations teams.
- Provide input on business development efforts and permitting activities when needed, helping to support overall project and company growth.
Essential Skills
- 17 years of experience in civil estimating, construction estimating, or a closely related field.
- Strong civil construction knowledge and experience, including grading, land clearing, utility construction, and civil site work.
- Proficiency in reading, reviewing, and interpreting blueprints and construction documents for commercial, residential, and multi-family projects.
- Experience with estimating software, including Bluebeam and Insite Elevation Pro, or similar tools.
- Demonstrated experience in bidding, pricing, and preparing detailed construction estimates.
- Familiarity with preconstruction processes, including budgeting, proposals, and cost analysis.
- Understanding of construction management and project management principles as they relate to estimating and preconstruction.
- Ability to prepare and manage RFIs, change orders, and project-related documentation with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Open to candidates with less experience who are familiar with civil estimating and willing to be trained.
- Open to candidates with strong professional experience in related construction or civil roles.
- Interest in business development activities, including supporting proposals and client pursuits, is a plus.
- Interest or experience in permitting processes and coordination is a plus.
- Experience with design-build projects and civil site development is beneficial.
- Experience with commercial construction, residential subdivisions, hotels, and multi-family developments is advantageous.

Work is typically performed during standard business hours, with collaboration across preconstruction, project management, and construction teams to support active and upcoming projects.
Job Type & Location: This is a Permanent position based out of Concord, NC.
Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $120000.00/yr. Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Life Insurance Package 401(k) Plan Paid Time Off (PTO) based on tenure
Workplace Type: This is a fully onsite position in Concord,NC.
