Senior Construction Accountant

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Project Cost Setup and Budget Management:
    • Set up projects in MRI System, detailing job type, such as site, building/shell, and include relevant lease, deal, and suite information.
    • Monitor and review weekly new job set up requests to ensure all necessary information is being provided.
    • Review budget cost coding and enter approved budget into MRI system.
    • Post approved budget revisions and reallocations as needed.
  2. Cost Oversight and Analysis:
    • Review and approve Purchase Orders (POs), Change Orders (COs), and Contracts for coding accuracy, adherence to project budgets, and alignment with project scope.
    • Review invoice coding to make sure AP is consistently using proper coding. If correction is needed, prepare and submit Job Cost journal entries to general ledger team for posting.
    • Monitor lien waivers and conditional/unconditional releases to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
    • Work closely with cost segregation team to ensure compliance and proper coding for book and tax purposes.
    • Perform variance analyses, highlighting discrepancies between actual and budgeted costs, and collaborate with construction teams to resolve issues.
    • Prepare and distribute monthly job cost reports and project financial summaries to project stakeholders. Participate in monthly job cost meeting with each PM.
    • Responsible for working with admins and project managers to make sure jobs are being closed and all steps are being logged in a timely fashion. Responsible for inactivating job once close-out process is complete.
  3. Billing and Revenue Tracking:
    • Collaborate with the Billing and Lease Administration Departments to ensure timely and accurate billing for project-related costs.
    • Monitor to make sure all items coded to tenant billable are submitted and posted to tenant ledger.
  4. Internal Collaboration and Support:
    • Attend construction job meetings to stay informed on project progress, budgets, and potential financial risks.
    • Work closely with finance to ensure accurate reporting for cash flows and job analysis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in construction industry administration or accounting, with strong experience in project-level cost tracking and analysis.
  • Education: Associate degree in accounting required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., MRI, Procore) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and analytical abilities, with a collaborative mindset for working closely with project managers and executive teams.
  • Travel: Willing to travel to our other office locations quarterly.
  • Detail Orientation: High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and accuracy are met.

Pay Range: $85,000 - $100,000 Annually

Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
