Position Description : CAD Technician

Location : 720 Butterfield Rd STE 200 Lombard IL 60148

Primary Function :

Perform drafting duties using basic drafting skills and techniques for medium / high voltage substation or transmission line drawings. Assignments are closely supervised and are designed to develop the employees understanding of drafting techniques corporate / client standards and procedures. Drafters will either be dedicated to Electrical Transmission or Civil / Structural design projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions :

Revise CADD drawings per engineering markups

Perform engineering support tasks under direct supervision (e.g. transmittals)

Learn and apply the corporate / client standard of drafting and engineering practices

Learn and properly use document management systems

Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his / her work

Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party

Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments

Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Associates degree in drafting & design is required. A certificate in drafting & design with relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an associates degree.

Possess skills in the following areas :

• Experience with AutoCAD 2010 and newer is required.
• Experience with Microstation preferred but not required
• 3D CADD experience preferred but not required
• Basic drafting including drawing scales drawing layouts (Paperspace / Modelspace) and accurately reproducing engineering markups
• CADD word processing spreadsheet and e-mail software
• College level geometry
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal with co-worker

Working Conditions

This position requires minimal physical effort.
