Step into a day on our shop floor
At NW Industrial Staffing, we’re seeking a Diesel Mechanic Apprentice with their own tools to support a family-owned sawmill. You’ll learn shoulder-to-shoulder with a Senior Mechanic and be groomed to take the reins when he retires.
Your day starts at 7:00 a.m. in Cottage Grove, OR. - Handle routine maintenance: oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
- Check for wear, leaks, and damage; clean and prep parts for repair or replacement.
- Use diagnostic tools to pinpoint issues; help troubleshoot engines, transmissions, and brake systems.
- Learn to read and interpret service manuals and schematics.
- Support electrical repairs (batteries, wiring, starters, etc.).
- Replace worn components including belts, hoses, and fuel system parts.
In the shop
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas organized and clean.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Document work performed and help maintain accurate records.
- Assist with inventory of parts, fluids, and supplies.
