Operates the specific vehicles used for the project work in their field of specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in observance of the safety guidelines.
Main Responsibilities
Operate equipment used in construction in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.
Ensure risk-free operation of equipment by performing pre-operation and regular checks on their functionality.
Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is accurately positioned.
Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating and stockpiling.
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment.
Must have a clear understanding of and follow the principles of our Policies and Procedures.
Promote, implement, and comply to the Safety Program standards.
Carry out other duties as assigned.
Skills
OSHA Safety training.
Follow all safety protocols.
Knowledge of first aid in the classroom as well as operating procedures.
Ability to navigate and move in tight spaces.
Ability to read gauges, dials and other indicators.
Troubleshoot any issues and fix the problems with critical thinking.
Effective communication, including speaking, writing, active listening and taking instructions from management team.
Excellent time management.
Attention to detail to identify maintenance, product or operations issues.
Qualifications
At least three (3) years of experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
Ability to climb in and out of equipment unassisted.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
Frequently lift 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to have a flexible work schedule, including working overtime and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
Physical movements such as climbing, lifting and moving materials. Ability to stand, sit or be in other physically testing positions for long periods of time.
