JOB TITLE Reading Tutor Federal Work Study Office of Financial Aid JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Reading Tutor reports to the Director of Financial Aid; however, they will work directly with Learn to Be, a non-profit 501C.3 organization. Learn to Be brings free, 1-on-1 online tutoring to kids from under-resourced communities. JOB DESCRIPTION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES : Select the students you would like to work with from a queue of students in need of a tutor. Communicate directly with your students and families to determine the best schedule for lessons. Establish the best way to stay in touch and communicate with the students and families regularly. Commit 10-20 hours per week. Support your student / s through homework help, test prep, and engaging in lesson plans. Meet with the Director of Financial Aid on an occasional basis to provide updates and receive guidance. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES : Students must value reading, like children, and have some prior experience working with children, such as with siblings or in schools. This position also requires the ability to set your schedule responsibly to ensure 10-20 hours are met each week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Must be currently enrolled or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University Complete a current year, error-free and verified, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Demonstrate Financial Need through completion of the FAFSA and review of current financial aid awards. Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress, as defined by Florida Polytechnic University. REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND / OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW : This position requires a criminal background check. This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations. Must have computer and high-speed Wi-Fi access. This position is online tutoring. NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE : The normal work schedule for this position will be 20 hours per week. EXPECTED STARTING SALARY AND WORK SCHEDULE : $13.25 / hour; Approximately 10-20 hours per week. This position is mostly remote because tutoring takes place online but will require occasional in-office meetings with the Director of Financial Aid.
