Job description

Product Manager - Occupational Health & Safety

The Product Manager - Occupational Health & Safety will drive the operational excellence and lifecycle management of Quest Diagnostics' Workforce Health Solutions workplace drug screening and occupational health product portfolio to fuel profitable business growth. Serving as the primary operational champion, the incumbent bridges the gap between high-level product strategy and flawless execution across laboratory, technology, and commercial teams.

This high-impact leader will direct complex product implementations, optimize end-to-end workflows, and manage critical lifecycle stages to maximize scalability. By leveraging deep industry expertise, this person will identify operational friction points and execute strategic process enhancements that directly improve operating margins and customer satisfaction. Ultimately, this position acts as the vital connective tissue that transforms market insights and cross-functional collaboration into scalable, repeatable operational plans that position Quest as the premier partner in workplace occupational health and safety.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Lifecycle Management: Drives the operational lifecycle of the OHS and workplace drug screening product portfolio. From launch readiness and scaling to maturity and targeted deprecation, ensuring products operate at peak efficiency and profitability at every stage.
  • Product Implementation & Commercialization: Leads the complex execution and rollout of new screening products, platform enhancements, and service capabilities. Defines operational scope, delivery timelines, key stakeholder milestones, success metrics, and handoff processes to ensure flawless market adoption.
  • Process Optimization & Efficiencies: Continuously audits and improves the product delivery value chain. Identifies friction points in the customer and operational journey, utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., STP - Situation, Target, Proposal) to streamline complex workflows, improve operational handoffs, and enhance product scalability.
  • Margin Optimization & Financial Acumen: Partners closely with Finance and Sales to establish and monitor operational KPIs, sales targets, and margin objectives. Analyzes the financial impact of automation, pricing strategies, and operational efficiencies to drive operating margin (OM) expansion within the OHS category.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Manages and prioritizes the execution efforts of cross-functional contributors, including IT, Clinical Operations, Sales Ops, Marketing, and 3rd party vendors. Converts high-level product strategy into actionable delivery plans, acting as the primary operational liaison to ensure technical and clinical teams deliver marketable services on time and within budget.
  • Platform & Technology Alignment: Works closely with technical and support teams to manage the operational interface between the OHS service lines and broader Quest technology platforms. Ensures data flow, reporting mechanisms, and digital tools are optimized for employer and patient experiences.
  • Data-Driven Strategy: Leverages market analysis, competitive intelligence, and internal performance data to establish business cases for product enhancements. Challenges existing data to ensure high accuracy for executive-level reporting and strategic decision-making.
  • Go-To-Market Enablement: Works in lockstep with brand marketing and marketing communications to operationalize market-to-order activities, ensuring complete harmony between idea-to-market ("Marketing/Product") and order-to-cash ("Operations").
  • Executive Communication: Crafts compelling senior-leader-level presentations and communications. Using superior written, oral, and visual presentation skills, articulates complex operational strategies, financial performance updates, and competitive advantages to strategic partners and senior executive management.

  • Strong background in Product Management / Product Operations, with a proven track record of managing complex product implementations, lifecycle optimization, and cross-functional operational alignment
  • Demonstrated ability to apply strategic frameworks to everyday product operations, turning high-level business goals into rigorous, measurable operational realities.

Preferred Work Experience:

  • Prior experience in Workplace Occupational Health & Safety industry
  • Direct product operations, implementation, or program management experience at leading Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), national labs, or background/health screening providers
