The City of Plano is looking for innovative and knowledgeable people to join our team as a Heavy Truck & Equipment Technician in the Fleet & Equipment Services division of the Public Works Department.

As a Technician, you will keep our City's fleet vehicles on the road by maintaining and repairing City vehicles.
A successful candidate will have :
- 3 years' experience in vehicle maintenance & repair,
- Texas Class A or B CDL (or ability to obtain within six months of hire)
- Two (2) Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications (or able to obtain within one year of hire)
- Texas Department of Public Safety / Emissions Inspection Certificate within six (6) months of hire

The salary range for the Heavy Truck and Equipment Technician I is $46,979 - $68,123 annually; for the Heavy Truck and Equipment Technician II position is : $51,792 - $75,102 annually; and for the Senior Heavy Truck and Equipment Technician is $57,107 - $82,810 annually.
Summary of Duties : Under basic supervision, the Heavy Truck and Equipment Technician is responsible for the repair, servicing, preventive maintenance, and inspection of gasoline, alternate fuels, and diesel-powered automobiles, light, medium and heavy duty trucks, and construction equipment.

Skill in : Communicating effectively bother verbally and in writing; using hand and power tools; operating a variety of computerized monitors, scanners, and analyzers with an understanding of computer codes to diagnose equipment and vehicle problems; reading, understanding, and utilizing technical repair manuals and schematics; operating a computer terminal.
Education : High school diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of a technical or trade school program in automotive and heavy truck technology.
Experience : Three (3) years of experience in the repair and service of automobiles, light, medium, and heavy duty trucks, and construction equipment with on-board computer components.
