Position Description

The City of Tacoma Fire Department is hosting two Lateral Firefighter Paramedic Informational Sessions this winter. Come learn about becoming a Lateral Firefighter Paramedic and why you should work for Tacoma Fire. Each session will cover the same info and both will be completely free!

The information sessions will be held in person or via Zoom. Details about the location and / or Zoom link will be sent directly to those who register. In person space will be limited to 8 people per session on a first come first serve basis.

December 16, 2025 - Tuesday morning session 8 : 00am - 9 : 00am PST

December 17, 2025 - Wednesday morning session 8 : 00am - 9 : 00am PST

Deferred Compensation : Income can be set aside on a pretax basis and invested for supplementation of normal retirement income.

Retirement : All employees of the City, except members of the Police and Fire services, Tacoma Rail and certain project employees, are included in the Tacoma Employees' Retirement System. Other Employment Information

Direct Deposit : Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.

Salary Increases : Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.

Union Affiliation : Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
