Job description
Role - Senior Consultant - Modernization Location - Houston, TX (Hybrid, Needs to be able to travel to Houston every other week) Duration: Long Term Role Summary As a Senior Consultant (L6), you are an experienced individual contributor who independently owns and drives the modernization and hydraulic modeling workstream end-to-end. You take full accountability for designing cloud-native execution environments, automating legacy workflows, and integrating ISV software with the AWS platform. You interface directly with customer technical leads and the other team to align on integration requirements and resolve technical challenges. You mentor L4 (Associate) and L5 (Staff) consultants, providing guidance on modernization patterns, cloud architecture, and integration development. Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement automated data integration pipelines from Redshift Gold layer to NextGen hydraulic modeling software
  • Develop cloud-based hydraulic model execution environments on EC2 with orchestration frameworks
  • Build automated model triggering workflows and simulation scenario generation capabilities
  • Implement parallel execution frameworks using AWS Batch with EC2 Auto Scaling Groups for concurrent hydraulic model runs
  • Develop ISV integration interfaces and APIs for NextGen software
  • Modernize legacy hydraulic modeling workflows to leverage cloud-native scaling and automation
  • Build performance measurement and optimization frameworks for model execution
  • Support technical documentation, compliance tracking, and ISV partnership management
  • Independently own delivery of the modernization workstream, driving architecture decisions and ensuring production-quality output
  • Mentor L4/L5 team members on modernization patterns, cloud-native development, and integration best practices
  • Interface directly with customer technical leads and ISV partners to align on requirements and resolve integration challenges
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with application modernization and cloud migration patterns
  • Proficiency with AWS compute services (EC2, AWS Batch, Auto Scaling Groups)
  • Experience with workflow orchestration (Step Functions, EventBridge)
  • Strong coding skills in Python and/or Java for integration development
  • Experience with API development and ISV integration
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform)
  • Understanding of simulation/modeling software integration is a plus
  • Experience in Energy & Utilities domain preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead technical workstreams and make architectural decisions
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or consultants
  • Strong communication skills for customer-facing interactions
