Department

Flood Control District

About the Position

As a Maintenance Specialist, you will work outdoors year-round in Arizona’s desert environment, taking a hands-on role in building and maintaining the flood control structures that protect our communities. Your skilled construction and maintenance expertise directly supports public safety while preserving the natural landscape.

Beyond flood protection, the Flood Control District maintains multi-use facilities, including hiking trails, bike paths, and open spaces that enhance the quality of life across Maricopa County. This is more than a maintenance role; it is an opportunity to strengthen infrastructure, to protect neighborhoods, and care for community spaces that residents use and value every day.

We are currently hiring for several positions across multiple yard locations.

About Us

Flood Control? In a desert? Absolutely!

Though Maricopa County is in a desert, floods occur during two distinct rainy seasons – the summer monsoon and winter frontal rains. Although the Flood Control District has made significant progress over the years, work remains to be done. Maricopa County continues to be one of the fastest-growing counties in the United States, with over 200 people moving here daily!
