Key Responsibilities
Utilize encoder, grouper software, and other coding resources to determine appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes
Maintain knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives and apply regulatory requirements to select appropriate codes and modifiers
Ensure compliance with Medicare Teaching Physician Guidelines and other institutional coding directives
Required Qualifications, Training, and Education
High School Diploma or equivalent and medical coding education required, or an active coding certification in lieu of education
Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred
1 year of progressive coding experience required
2 years of progressive coding experience in multiple specialties preferred
Various coding certifications required upon hire, such as CPC, COC, CIC, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CRC, RHIT, or RHIA
