The job of Paraprofessional 2 is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned specialized classroom with specific responsibility for assisting the Lead Teacher in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in the regular classroom or in a self-contained classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time; and providing information to appropriate school personnel.
Essential functions include adapting classroom activities, administering tests, assisting special education teachers with creating lesson plans, assisting medically fragile or physically disabled students, communicating with instructional staff and parents, implementing lesson plans and behavioral plans, maintaining instructional materials, monitoring students, providing instruction, attending meetings and in-service presentations, administering first aid, and performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED certificate and either completing 48 hours at an institution of higher education, obtaining an associate's (or higher) degree, or passing a State approved assessment. Job related experience is preferred.
