Designs, updates, and documents learning outcomes, lesson plans, syllabi, evaluation rubrics, and clinical criteria. Develops and coordinates clinical labs; creates teaching material and trains lab instructors to deliver safe, high-quality experiences. Ensures all labs are properly staffed, equipped, and scheduled to meet learner needs. Reviews guidance from licensing and certification bodies and updates curriculum and clinical criteria in a timely manner.

Instruction and Assessment

Serves as a primary instructor for the Critical Care Paramedic Program and delivers clear, engaging didactic sessions. Coordinates and teaches clinical lab sessions, and acts as a liaison for the clinical lab coordinator. Writes and grades quizzes and examinations, evaluates research and applied projects, and provides timely feedback to students. Faculty and Instructor Coordination

Directs the efforts of didactic and clinical instructors to deliver consistent instruction across courses and labs. Recruits, onboards, schedules, and mentors instructors, preceptors, and lab staff. Provides training on curriculum, clinical criteria, safety procedures, assessment standards, and documentation practices. Reviews instructor performance through observation, learner feedback, and outcome data, and provides coaching for improvement. Ensures coverage for all classes and labs and maintains an up-to-date staffing plan.

Compliance and Risk Management

Ensures all programs, activities, and series comply with university, state, and federal regulations and with relevant licensing and certification standards. Maintains records and documentation required by oversight bodies and external partners. Implements and monitors safety protocols for didactic and clinical settings, including equipment usage and lab procedures. Coordinates required student and instructor clearances, such as background checks, health screenings, and immunizations, as required by partner sites. Identifies compliance risks early and takes prompt corrective action.

Stakeholder and Partner Relations

Builds and maintains relationships with local, state, national, and international emergency medical services departments and related agencies. Serves as the primary point of contact for partner sites, including UF Health Shands Hospital, Clinical ICU, UF SimLab and other partner agencies. Negotiates and manages agreements for clinical placements, equipment, services, and educational collaborations with appropriate approvals. Represents the program at professional meetings, advisory groups, and outreach events. Promotes the program and fosters pathways for graduate placement and continuing education.

Budget and Resource Management

Formulates and administers the annual operating budget with appropriate approvals. Plans, prioritizes, and tracks expenditures for materials, equipment, services, and staffing to support didactic and clinical operations. Monitors financial performance, forecasts needs and implements cost-effective practices without reducing quality. Oversees inventory, procurement, and maintenance of instructional and lab equipment and supplies. Ensures fiscal practices follow university policies and internal controls.

Data, Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement

Tracks student progress, completion, certification pass rates, and post-program outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness. Collects and analyzes feedback from students, instructors, and partners to identify strengths and areas for improvement. Produces reports for department leadership, and external stakeholders as requested. Implements improvement plans for curriculum, labs, instruction, support services, and operations. Shares results and best practices to promote a culture of excellence.

Work takes place in office, classroom, simulation lab, and clinical environments with periods of standing, walking, lifting, and equipment setup.
