Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced OpenBMC Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and enhance platform management firmware solutions for next-generation server platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in OpenBMC, Redfish APIs, embedded Linux development, and server management technologies. This role involves close collaboration with hardware, validation, and platform teams to enable new features, support board bring-up activities, and deliver reliable firmware solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain OpenBMC firmware components and Redfish (bmcweb) services.
Develop and extend RESTful APIs compliant with the DMTF Redfish standard.
Implement platform management features, hardware monitoring, health reporting, and firmware update mechanisms.
Collaborate with hardware, platform, and validation teams during board bring-up and feature enablement.
Debug and resolve firmware issues across Linux, middleware, and hardware interfaces.
Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design discussions.
Develop customer-driven features while ensuring firmware quality, scalability, and maintainability.
Support integration, testing, and deployment of firmware releases.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of experience in embedded firmware/software development.
Strong programming skills in C/C++ on Linux-based embedded systems.
Hands-on experience with OpenBMC firmware development.
Deep understanding of Redfish, bmcweb, and REST API development.
Experience with Linux system programming, debugging, and performance analysis.
Familiarity with D-Bus, systemd, phosphor services, and OpenBMC architecture.
Experience with source control and development workflows using Git and Gerrit/GitHub.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Yocto Project and embedded Linux build systems.
Python scripting for automation, validation, and test framework development.
Familiarity with IPMI, PLDM, MCTP, and firmware update frameworks.
Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated build/test environments.
Exposure to server platform architecture, BMC hardware interfaces, and datacenter infrastructure.
Knowledge of firmware validation and hardware diagnostics.
