Job description

LIHTC Attorney/Partner (7-15 Years) | Manhattan, NY

A highly regarded real estate practice is seeking an experienced Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Partner Attorney to join its growing team in New York. This is an excellent opportunity to work on sophisticated affordable housing and community development transactions alongside a nationally recognized platform.

About the Role: This attorney will play a key role advising developers, investors, lenders, and other stakeholders on complex affordable housing transactions with a focus on LIHTC matters. The ideal candidate will have strong transactional experience and a deep understanding of affordable housing finance structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Structure, negotiate, and close LIHTC transactions and affordable housing developments
  • Advise clients on tax credit financing, multifamily development, acquisition, and preservation projects
  • Draft and negotiate purchase agreements, financing documents, partnership agreements, and related transaction documents
  • Coordinate with developers, investors, lenders, public agencies, and opposing counsel throughout transactions
  • Provide strategic counsel regarding affordable housing regulatory and compliance considerations
  • Manage deal execution and support business development initiatives

Qualifications:

  • 7-15+ years of experience practicing in LIHTC, affordable housing, real estate finance, or related transactional work
  • Experience representing developer-side clients strongly preferred
  • Strong familiarity with affordable housing programs and financing structures
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and project management skills
  • Ability to independently manage transactions while collaborating across teams
  • Admission to the New York Bar

Why Consider This Opportunity:

  • High-profile affordable housing and community development work
  • Collaborative and entrepreneurial team environment
  • Strong deal flow and meaningful client exposure
  • Competitive compensation and bonus structure

If you’re an affordable housing attorney looking to deepen your LIHTC practice and work on impactful development projects, this could be an excellent next step.
