Department Summary

The Division of Safety and Risk Services (SRS) is a unit within the Finance and Administration portfolio. Finance and Administration is a vibrant and varied portfolio serving all aspects of campus life. Our employees perform a wide range of functions, including offering essential financial tools and support to the university’s many departments, providing key resources to employees, and keeping the campus safe, clean, accessible, and beautiful. SRS's mission is to collaborate with all campus constituents (students, staff, faculty, and visitors) and the surrounding community, to safeguard life and health and mitigate threats to the University’s core mission of academic excellence, research, and public service. Safety and Risk Services comprises Emergency Management and Continuity, Enterprise Risk Management, Environmental Health and Safety, Location Innovation Lab - Campus Mapping, Risk Management and Insurance, and the University of Oregon Police Department. SRS fulfills its mission by providing a variety of professional services, technical assistance, training, and regulatory oversight.

The University of Oregon Police Department (UOPD) is a community oriented and trust-based policing agency within the University of Oregon. UOPD plays an integral role in the university community by providing a safe, secure, and welcoming environment. The mission is to foster a climate that encourages a free, open, and civil exchange of ideas in support of the educational, research, and public service goals of the university. The UOPD recognizes and promotes the value of multiculturalism and inclusiveness consistent with a spirit of responsible citizenship within an international community. The University of Oregon is a diverse and ever-changing community. Constant efforts by the UOPD are necessary to partner with and educate the community to deter, reduce, and solve crimes as well as to resolve issues through modern policing.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Security Operations, the Physical Security Technology Manager carries out critical functions 24/7 at UOPD and across the University of Oregon campus. This includes facility support for all access control, camera, and alarms systems, dispatch-related tool optimization, security operations center hardware and software system support, camera asset management, maintenance and procurement of outsourced services where appropriate, while also contributing to the functional implementation of Security Planning related to all building security systems. This includes security and fire alarm panels, receivers, dialers, phones, panic button hardware, recommending and revising standards, capturing recurring building schedule information, collection of quarterly changes in addition to the role of FASS IT in SPAs, web-based tool population, 24/7 alarms and camera management needs with an ability to provide immediate maintenance/technical support for installation, integration, and sourcing of additional contracted services. This position will also help support the University mission by assisting with compliance needs to the Campus Access Control Policy, as deemed necessary by the Director of Security, with additional adaptive considerations for the path forward. There will be support to the Access Control Advisory Committee, nexus integration with the Security Operations Center, FASS IT, and all campus outsourced security technology vendors. This position will be expected to work both in an administrative and field-based capacity in dynamic facility settings not limited to electrical and mechanical rooms.

The Physical Security Technology Manager will be required to work regular but variable hours in the support of dynamic Special Events to mitigate campus risk. The position collaborates with aligned risk units (i.e. Safety & Risk Services; Environmental Health and Safety; Lock Shop; FASS IT, IS, CPFM Electrical) in developing integrated campus safety strategies to achieve common and UOPD goals.
