Wildwoods is a  different  kind of environmental organization.

Created in response to the school shooting at Columbine, Wildwoods' programs use ecology and the outdoor experience as a framework for human relations. Our work happens at the nexus of social science and natural science.

In addition to traditional "environmental education," our programs address Nature Deficit Disorder and the inequity of access to nature from a public health and a social justice perspective. As we like to say, "We're not saving nature. Nature is saving us! "

Next year we will celebrate our 25th anniversary of serving the greater Los Angeles area.

We are looking for visionaries who can help us plan for the next 25 years.

Ideal candidates should :

• Be based in Los Angeles.
• Have previous board service and fundraising experience.
• Have a well-developed sense of humor and adventure.

We are especially looking for representatives from the following sectors : Entertainment, Digital Technology, Health & Wellness, Law, and Finance. Please note : This is a volunteer position.

Although our board is titled "Advisory," as a fiscally-sponsored project of Community Partners, our Advisory Board takes on all of the responsibilities of a Governance Board. Operating under the umbrella of Community Partners’ 501c3 designation, their Board of Directors is the legal board of record for all of the 180+ projects that are part of that organization along with Wildwoods. Community Partners’ board does not directly engage with projects, provides no governance oversight, nor provides any financial support. All of those duties are performed by our Advisory Board. Wildwoods would not exist without their dedication and service.
