Health Care Administrator

The Administrator of Health Care works closely with the Chief Health and Wellness Officer and the Director of Nursing to assure that Arbor Acres at all time fulfills its mission at the highest level possible in the lives of those it serves.

Provides oversight for all medical services, nursing care, therapy, transportation and pharmacy services available to residents.

As Administrator of Record of all licensed facilities, the individual is accountable for compliance with all licensure rules and regulations.

Status Exempt

Reporting Relationships :

  • Reports to the Chief Health and Wellness Officer
  • Directly supervises Director of Nursing Arts, the Registered Dietician, the Medical Director, the Manager of Memory Care, the Medical Transportation Supervisor and various other administrative and nursing staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

Serves as a leader to all staff, and most particularly leadership staff, ensuring that staff feel safe, heard and that their interests and concerns are taken seriously.

Ensures leaders are projecting that same care for staff, while simultaneously holding staff accountable quickly after investigation for any concerns in care.

  • Plans and implements a comprehensive integrated program of health services for residents in all areas that is excellent and fully compliant with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Serves as a leader to all staff, and most particularly leadership staff, ensuring that staff feel safe, heard and that their interests and concerns are taken seriously.

Ensures leaders are projecting that same care for staff, while simultaneously holding staff accountable quickly after investigation for any concerns in care.

  • Assures effectiveness of Arbor Acres campus-wide continuum of care and develops and implements policies and procedures that assure responsible, compassionate, effective, and essential transition of residents through the service continuum.
  • Manages the census in all residential and licensed areas in order to further Arbor Acres mission and to meet or if possible exceed revenue goals.
  • Participates in the preparation of the annual budget and provides oversight to expenditures in order to control expenses and to meet or exceed budgeted goals.
  • Assures ongoing and effective communication with family members of residents in licensed areas to build trust, and in order to maximize family awareness of resident needs and constructive engagement of family members in the lives of residents.
  • Selects, oversees contractual arrangements with, and supervises service delivery by all health service consultants including the Medical Director, Physicians Eldercare, Genesis, Pharmacy, Medical Records, and all others.
  • Works with the Medical Director to plan, implement, and operate a comprehensive, high quality program of physician care for residents throughout the continuum of care.
  • Provides highest level leadership to Arborview and assures consistent engagement in best-practices in dementia care and provision of quality of life for residents and their families.
  • Plans and implements an effective program of physical, occupational, and speech therapy; and other such therapy programs as may appropriate to the needs of residents.

Assures the fairness of pricing for therapy services and the effectiveness and / or acceptance of billing practices.

Plans, implements and provides oversight to pharmaceutical services, assuring availability of an accurate and efficient system of procurement, control, and medication administration.

Selects such pharmacy consultants and suppliers as required to meet the needs of residents and to assure compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

  • Promotes programs that increase consciousness of holistic wellness and that foster the highest level of wellness possible for both residents and staff.
  • Provides intensive support for the Director of Nursing in order to assure a reasonable, efficient and effective balance of responsibilities and work demands between that position and the position of Health Center Administrator.
  • Assures excellence of building maintenance and housekeeping in licensed areas (in collaboration with the Director of Environmental Services) and promotes throughout Arbor Acres excellence in sanitation and the highest standards of infection control.
  • Works closely with the Director of Dining Arts and Registered Dietician to assure full compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and sanitation requirements;

and delivery in all licensed areas of high quality food and dining experiences.

  • Provides oversight to the program of recreational and wellness activities in licensed areas and assures that such programs are at all times age- appropriate, and aligned with the needs and interests of residents.
  • Provides oversight to resident use of private duty care providers and assures compliance of all such arrangements with Arbor Acres applicable policies and procedures.
  • Manages communication with local and State licensure and health authorities to build trust with regulators and to assure continuing compliance with all licensure rules and regulations.
  • Works with the CHWO in the implementation of partnership with local health and research institutions and internships taking place in areas under the Administrators direction.
