Position : US Director, UK Senior Manager, Business Development at National Grid.
About the Role
National Grid is hiring a Director, Business Development within the NY Clean Energy Development team in either our Upstate or Downstate NY regions.
In New York, the state has set ambitious clean energy and environmental goals aiming to accelerate clean electric generation and electrification. The Director of Clean Energy Development will play a visible strategic role with lasting impact on National Grid's electric business in New York.
Job Purpose
Promote strategic and proactive thought leadership regarding transmission and distribution system needs, influencing future rate cases, responding to emerging energy policy initiatives, and supporting asset modernization of National Grid's regulated electric utility in upstate New York.
Key Accountabilities
Coordinate the development of regulatory filings and business cases, proposing new execution models as necessary.
Serve as the primary point of contact for communicating complex utility issues and identifying opportunities and risks for the Electric Business Unit.
Develop and implement a stakeholder relationship management strategy, ensuring clear accountabilities for external stakeholders in collaboration with internal operations and planning.
Influence and manage internal stakeholders to secure buy-in regarding Clean Energy Development initiatives.
Identify emerging clean-energy project opportunities and partnerships aligning with strategic objectives and customer values.
Assemble and lead virtual teams across National Grid in pursuit of decarbonization efforts, engaging external consultants as needed to develop robust business cases.
Collaborate with Corporate Communications and Government Affairs to develop external communications plans and value propositions.
Identify policy gaps and advocate for new utility infrastructure use-case filings.
Support future rate-case submissions relevant to projects sponsored by the department.
Qualifications
Familiarity with electric system planning, NYISO functions, and electric rates.
Strong understanding of New York electric utility regulations and utility finance.
Bachelor's degree in business, economics, engineering or related discipline.
5+ years of experience working with New York external stakeholders in the electric sector.
Significant understanding of commercial, market and relationship management aspects of business development.
Proven experience working with external stakeholders on electric energy initiatives, including the New York Department of Public Service.
Exceptional interpersonal, relationship-building and collaboration skills at all organizational levels.
Demonstrated experience in conducting internal stakeholder engagement at director and senior leadership levels.
Experience leading virtual teams to pursue business opportunities.
Proven ability to organize and lead teams through ambiguity to achieve high performance and desired results.
Confident and impactful public-speaking skills.

$188,000 - $221,000 a year
