Position Summary
The Human Resources Director will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission.
The HR Director is a full-time exempt position which reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
- Oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave;
- disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale;
occupational health and safety; and workers compensation.
Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices;
reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Directs the administration of insurance, retirement, and other benefit programs; evaluates and develops recommendations for improvements.
- Coordinates performance management program designed to encourage regular communication between employees and supervisors to foster an environment for ongoing recognition and addressing opportunities for improvement in meeting the goals of the university.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law;
applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
- Serves as a Title IX investigator for complaints related to employees.
- Handles discipline and termination of employment cases in accordance with university policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Bachelor degree in related field. Master’s degree preferred. 7 or more years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Christian faith with an understanding and support of the tenets of the Nazarene Church. SHRM-SCP and / or HRCI PHR and or SPHR certification is a plus.
Bilingual in English / Spanish is a plus. Prior higher education experience preferred.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen.
- This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stoop as necessary.
This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
