Job Description
The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine is currently seeking a full time veterinarian who is a certified Veterinary Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT, CCRP, CCAT or ACVSMR ) to join our practice in Columbus, Ohio.
Our current team is comprised of a double boarded DACVS / DACVSMR veterinarian, a Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ACVSMR) residency-trained faculty veterinarian, an RVT / CCRVN, and an additional RVT.
We see a variety of patients in our busy caseload, including post-op orthopedic and neurologic cases, conservative management cases, geriatrics, and agility / sporting dogs.
We are seeking an individual that is team oriented, has a positive attitude, and has excellent communication skills with fellow colleagues, clients, and the referral community.
The primary role of this position will be as a staff veterinarian providing clinical care to patients and collaborating with faculty veterinarians of other services (primarily Neurology and Orthopedic Surgery), residents, students, and sports medicine and rehabilitation staff.
This position will support the teaching mission by participating in student and resident teaching under the guidance of the Director of the Small Animal Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Department.
The ideal candidate has previous experience working in a physical rehabilitation service and is dedicated to practicing the highest quality of rehabilitative services.
They will be charged with helping to expand the rehabilitation services by providing exemplary care, while leading community outreach and marketing efforts to referring practices.
In addition to exercise and manual therapy, our rehabilitation service utilizes underwater and land treadmill, therapeutic ultrasound, NMES / TENS, two Class IV lasers, shockwave therapy, PEMF, and regenerative medicine.
This position will be responsible for servicing out of hospital referrals as well as in hospital cases. Certification in canine rehabilitation (CCRT, CCRP, CCAT or ACVSMR ) as well as certification in acupuncture is required.
Certification in chiropractic is preferred. The candidate must have the ability to be licensed in the State of Ohio and subject to a successful background check.
Strong interest in geriatrics and neurology patient management is a plus.
Minimum Education Required
D.V.M. or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications
DVM with certification in canine rehabilitation (CCRT, CCRP, CCAT or ACVSMR).is required. Exposure to zoonotic diseases and animal inflicted injury.
Certification in acupuncture and chiropractic is required. Requires lifting and long hours standing, bending and / or reaching for long periods of time;
potential exposure to zoonotic illness and physical harm caused by animals; exposure to animal dander; ability to push or pull 50 lbs.
Desired Qualifications
Must have excellent communication skills to interface with the RDVM community and to interact with internal sections within the hospital and with elective 4th year veterinary students.
