Construction Project Manager I - Facilities
Provides professional engineering and architectural oversight, construction industry procurement, and overall real property stewardship within Mayo Clinic.
Familiar with state and regulatory guidelines and codes and applies this knowledge in the course of performing job responsibilities.
May meet with local and state building officials, local and state fire marshals, and state department of health. Implements institutional directions as the Owner’s contracting officer, using advanced negotiation skills and various contracting options.
Leads project objectives that have low to medium risk to the organization and accomplishing their completion on time, within budget, and according to the approved project scope.
Leads problem-solving and decision making activities, provides direction in the development and tracking of project budgets and scheduled.
Establishes implementation plans and budgets. Provides matrix supervision of staff from internal Mayo departments, external consultants, and contractor / vendor resources.
Uses organization and planning skills in order manage and organize a large and diverse work load with a wide variety of tasks.
Utilizes decision-making, judgment, attention to detail, and follow through throughout the course of their work. Utilizes interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and presentation skills to address both large and small groups.
Collaborates with all departments within Mayo Clinic and works work with a wide range of personalities. Achieves the cost, schedule and quality objectives of projects assigned by Senior Leadership and Director.
Advises senior leaders and administrative staff of project progress, and works proactively with internal and external groups to successfully manage all phases of the process which includes initiation, programming, approvals, design, construction, and occupancy.
Ensures that user group needs are addressed during design phase and apprises users of project progress during design and construction phases.
Capable of timely decision making and building unique teams. Manages assigned multiple Facilities projects simultaneously, from work orders to projects approximately $1,000,000 for all project phases.
May be required to provide off-hours general oversight of assigned projects or crisis management sometimes associated with project or construction activity.
The incumbent may drive a Mayo Clinic vehicle on a regular or occasional basis. Remains current in the project and construction industry, regarding processes, technology, and project delivery methods.
