Water Utility Engineer

Responsibilities :
- Perform engineering services, including technical evaluation and design focused on water and wastewater treatment, distribution, collection, and transmission.
- Prepare technical reports, plans, specifications, cost estimates, permit submittals for regulatory compliance and bid packages.
- Perform periodic construction observations of water and wastewater utilities projects.
- Provide technical support services for regulatory compliance by public water and wastewater utilities.
- Responsibilities include : conduct engineering evaluations using water quality data, prepare various reports and technical memoranda, assist with design drawing development, prepare technical specifications, and prepare permit submittals for regulatory compliance.
- Manage various tasks on several concurrent projects and must be able to follow these tasks through to completion within the allocated period of time and the monetary budget assigned.
Qualifications :
- BS in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering 3-10 years of directly relevant experience in water and wastewater treatment, chemistry and process evaluations.
- Application of engineering principles including critical thinking, analysis, and innovative techniques
- Technically competent, a team player and strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Must be self-motivated and work independently to complete work assignments.
- Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel
- Have proficient knowledge of conventional and advanced treatment processes, water chemistry and modeling in water and wastewater utility design and good understanding of current rules and regulations associated with water and wastewater design elements.
- Requires a valid driver's license
Required Education :
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering
- 3-5 years experience
Preferred Qualifications :
- Master's degree in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering with focus on water and wastewater engineering
- Arizona Professional Engineer (PE) registration, ability to acquire a AZ PE license quickly via reciprocity, or an Engineering Intern (EI) ready to take the PE licensure test
- Experience with water reclamation
- Experience with water quality and hydraulic modeling
- Proficient with 3D AutoCad
