Design Engineer

Workforce Solutions partners directly with teams looking to hire top talent. We are currently working with a family-owned manufacturing company looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join their Madison, WI team.

What's the role?

The Design Engineer is a key position that designs, engineers, and updates the company's products. In this position the Engineer will create exciting new retail store fixtures and point of purchase (POP) displays by taking the customer's request and making it a reality! The main objectives of the role include :

• Design and engineer new designs as well as updating existing designs.
• Find cost-effective ways to give the customer what they want.
• Make the customers' vision a reality.
• Research and find new innovations that are cost-effective.
• Turn researched ideas and drafts into technical plans for prototypes that will impress customers.
• Work as a team to turn the concept into a working model for the production crew.
• Test and run on the prototype.
• Review and modify where appropriate and retest.
• Repeat until all necessary adjustments and modifications are complete until the product is ready for manufacturing.
• Manage the project, being persistent, and having excellent communication skills with the project managers, team, and clients throughout the process.

What experience and skills do I need to be successful?

• 5 years of industrial product design and engineering experience
• 5 years of mechanical engineering experience
• Proficiency with computer-aided design software, AutoCAD and Solidworks
• Proven ability to create 2D and 3D renderings
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
• Experience with furniture, cabinets, retail displays, or merchandising would be a huge plus
• Experience in small business settings a plus

What will my schedule look like?

This salaried role generally works onsite during office hours Monday-Friday 8a-5p.

For over 40 years, the company has been manufacturing retail store fixtures and point-of-purchase displays. They cater to a wide range of industries including stationery, gift, housewares, home appliances, and sporting goods.

The company is an industry leader in designing and manufacturing quality fixtures and displays for consumer products and is proud that its products are made in America! The company is unique because most processes are done in-house with a variety of materials.

Processes include large format printing, silk screening, CNC machining, vacuum forming, edge banding, finishing, plastic fabrication, custom / studio work, assembly and packaging, warehouse, and shipping.
