Your responsibilities as a Host include but are not limited to :

Welcome and greet guests upon arrival, ensuring a friendly and inviting atmosphere from the moment they enter the restaurant :

  • Offer a warm and genuine greeting to all guests, making them feel welcome and valued.
  • Provide a positive first impression by maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor.
  • Engage in friendly conversation and show genuine interest in guests' needs and preferences.
  • Assist guests with any immediate inquiries or requests upon arrival.

Manage the waitlist efficiently, providing accurate wait times and seating guests promptly :

  • Maintain a well-organized waitlist, accurately recording guest names, party sizes, and contact information.
  • Estimate wait times based on current restaurant occupancy and reservation status.
  • Communicate estimated wait times clearly and accurately to guests, managing expectations.
  • Regularly update guests on waitlist status and notify them promptly when their table is ready.

Maintain knowledge of the restaurant layout, table availability, and special requests to optimize seating arrangements :

  • Familiarize yourself with the restaurant's layout, including different seating sections and table configurations.
  • Stay informed about table availability, reserved tables, and any special arrangements or requests.
  • Optimize seating arrangements to accommodate guest preferences, large parties, and special needs.
  • Balance seating assignments to ensure fair distribution among servers and optimize service efficiency.

Coordinate with the server team to ensure a smooth flow of seating and service :

  • Communicate effectively with servers to coordinate seating assignments and table turnovers.
  • Notify servers promptly when their assigned tables are ready for seating.
  • Collaborate with the server team to prioritize seating and accommodate any special requests or requirements.
  • Facilitate communication between guests and servers to ensure a seamless dining experience.

Assist in answering phone calls and taking reservations, providing helpful information to guests :

  • Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally, providing information about the restaurant and its services.
  • Take reservations accurately, recording guest details, party sizes, preferred dining times, and any special requests.
  • Provide helpful recommendations and answer questions about the menu, dietary options, and restaurant policies.
  • Efficiently manage reservation bookings, cancellations, and modifications in the reservation system.

Create a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests as they enter the restaurant :

  • Maintain a clean and organized entrance area, including the reception desk, waiting area, and coat check.
  • Ensure that the entrance area is well lit, properly decorated, and reflects the ambiance of the restaurant.
  • Pay attention to details such as lighting, music, and overall cleanliness to create a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Help with seating, coats, and any immediate needs upon guests' arrival.

Communicate any special requests or guest preferences to the appropriate staff members :

  • Act as a liaison between guests and the restaurant staff, effectively conveying guest preferences and requests.
  • Relay any dietary restrictions, allergies, or special occasions to the servers or kitchen staff.
  • Share essential information about guests' preferences, such as seating preferences or preferred servers.
  • Ensure effective communication between guests and staff to enhance the overall dining experience.
