Position Summary
The Family Law Paralegal will provide direct support to attorneys handling complex family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, modifications, enforcement, property division, and marital agreements. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of family law paralegal experience, be highly organized, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Draft and prepare legal documents including petitions, motions, discovery, inventories, disclosures, affidavits, and final orders.
- Assist with case management from inception to resolution, including maintaining case calendars and deadlines.
- Manage discovery process : drafting requests and responses, organizing production, and coordinating with clients.
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, provide updates, and maintain positive client relationships.
- Prepare exhibits, trial notebooks, and witness lists for hearings, mediations, and trials.
- File documents with courts (both electronic and in person, as required).
- Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review.
- Maintain accurate case files in the firm's systems.
- Assist attorneys with billing support, including tracking billable time.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of family law paralegal experience required.Knowledge of Texas family law, court rules, and filing procedures.Strong drafting and proofreading skills with attention to detail.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with legal practice management software.Paralegal certification or degree preferred but not required if experience is substantial.Compensation and Benefits
