  • Franklin University, a private, independent, accredited, not-for-profit University located in Columbus, Ohio invites applicants for a full-time, year-round position in the School of Education for a Lead Faculty, Secondary Education.

    The successful candidate will work an onsite hybrid schedule.

    Position Summary :

    The primary responsibilities of this Lead Faculty position includes course development, teaching, leadership of adjunct faculty for face-to-face and on-line courses, service on university committees, networking / participation in the professional community, and promoting teaching effectiveness, as well as other associated program, division and university requirements as needed.

    Duties and Responsibilities :

    • Develops course content, activities, and assignments
    • Updates and maintains course content, resources, activities, and assignments on a regular basis
    • Establishes course standards, assuring consistency of course delivery through regular communications with all faculty teaching assigned courses.
    • Supervises adjunct faculty
    • Implements course assessment procedures with adjunct faculty
    • Teaches courses in discipline
    • Provides or serves as a substitute instructor for courses when necessary
    • Participates in personal professional development
    • Mentors adjunct faculty through observation, evaluation, faculty meetings and appropriate professional development activities
    • Evaluates adjunct faculty teaching assigned course(s)
    • Recruits, recommends, and assigns faculty to teach course(s) in accordance with university policies
    • Educates adjunct faculty on relevant University policies and procedures
    • Participates in the regularly scheduled Division, College and University meetings
    • Serve on Faculty Senate and other University committees
    • Administers course schedules for assigned courses
    • Coordinates textbook orders and other instructional materials for assigned course(s), and distribute materials to instructors as appropriate
    • Provides current information on curriculum to the University and to members of the adjunct faculty
    • Maintains up-to-date knowledge concerning rules and regulations for advanced accreditation at the state and national level to ensure all master’s level programs are fully accredited.
    • Maintain accurate records and provide data relating to key programmatic measures, as prescribed by the School of Education's data collection and reporting protocols.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Division Chair

    Minimum Requirements / Qualifications :

    • Earned Doctorate in field appropriate to the position, from an institutional (formerly regional) accredited institution, with a minimum of 18 in-discipline graduate semester credit hours
    • Earned a valid state teaching license
    • Experience or licensed in secondary mathematics education
    • Prior experience teaching in P-12
    • Excellent ability to conceptualize, create, implement, manage and periodically measure effectiveness of courses and programs, particularly in response to emerging markets and industry trends
    • Knowledge of higher education and P-12 Education regulations, compliance and accrediting agencies

    Preferred Skills and Characteristics :

    • Three years or more of professional experience in the field
    • Earned a valid state principal or administrative license
