Position Summary

Reporting to the Integrated Communications Senior Manager, the Integrated Communications Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing communications and marketing ("promotion") campaigns and activities for PCORI.

This person will produce the daily integrated communications and promotions content and collateral and conduct omni-channel implementation and analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Senior Manager, Integrated Communications, develop and implement multi-channel integrated promotion and communications strategies aimed at enhancing the visibility of the organization while driving stakeholder engagement and furthering PCORI's mission.

Help drive promotional efforts to conceive and implement campaigns that broaden PCORI's reach and increase engagement with stakeholders across all channels.

Develop (research / write / edit), topic briefs, blog posts, feature stories, web / email content, slide sets, fact sheets, promotional materials and other editorial products that advance PCORI's mission and programmatic activities.

Translate complex health research findings from PCORI funded research and research-related projects into meaningful and impactful marketing messages and content for the broader healthcare community via email, storytelling, website and social media platforms.

Review and edit materials to ensure clarity, scientific accuracy, alignment with brand and appropriateness for intended audiences.

Ensure all outgoing materials meet PCORI quality and style standards, undergo all needed internal and external reviews and are produced within established deadlines.

Support the Communications division with various promotional activities, including campaign optimization, email, print, and social media.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Exceptional writing and editing skills, including developmental editing, line editing, and copyediting, along with the ability to shape and improve content for target audiences and repackage material for multiple uses.

Demonstrated ability to translate complex scientific information into stories that engage readers, increase engagement and build understanding of complex health research.

Excellent organizational, project and content management skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Thorough understanding of traditional and digital communications and marketing vehicles and best practices.

Demonstrated ability to collect and utilize analytics for data-centric recommendations.

Proven ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize tasks, perform well under pressure and meet deadlines and objectives.

Demonstrated ability to revise work based on editorial feedback.

Clear, strong, concise and effective oral and written communications skills. Familiarity with digital and shared-workplace tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.

Proficiency with AP Style.

Required Experience

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, media, journalism or related field.

7+ experience working in an in-house marketing or communications department, agency or health-related nonprofit organization.

Experience working with scientists, clinicians and lay people to develop communications and marketing materials.

Experience with editorial review processes involving both internal and external content experts and stakeholders.

Experience with social and digital media, as well as strategic communications.
