Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations

Nature of Work

This is an entry-level class performing basicoffice / clerical work such as data entry, general office work includinganswering phones (reception), filing, completing department specificdocumentation and records, retrieving and in-putting information intodatabases, forms or reports.

This classperforms a low variety of duties with clearly defined instructions and followsroutine procedures requiring little to no decision-making outside of thedefined duties.

Tasks in this class aretypically repetitive in nature and require no judgment or policyinterpretation. Work is performed under the close supervisionof supervisors from varying job class levels.

The employee carries out work in accordance with specific instructionsfrom the supervisor. Most positionssupport supervisors in smaller divisions or departments.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and 6 months ofclerical experience (answering phones, typing, filing). Must also pass a typing test requirement of32 net words per minute with no more than 12 errors.

NOTE : Qualifying education, training and experiencethat provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the jobwill be considered.

Kind of Examination

Applicationsare being accepted to fill any vacancies that may occur during the life of theregister. The register established from this announcement period will expireone year from the register date.

The register will be set up to fill immediatevacancies with the City of Montgomery and MontgomeryCounty . For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in theapplication form and willingness questionnaire completely, providingdetailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the datesthey held them, where and exactly what their duties were.

If there aremore than five (5) qualified applicants, an online computerized test willbe used to rank applicants on the eligible list.

Tied scores will not be broken. Qualified applicants will benotified by email of the dates to complete an online clerical test.

Atyping proficiency exam will be a part of the online test. From the dateof the email, you will have approximately four days to complete the test.

Completed applications will be accepted online until 11 : 59 p.m. on the closing date. If there is no closing date, the announcement may be closed at any time without prior notice.
