We’re hiring a reliable, experienced, Security and Law Enforcement Dispatchers! The persons in this position will maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and co-workers by monitoring premises remotely, actively monitoring dispatch lines, and performing call logs and executing search response efforts.

Shifts include : 2200-0630 (10 : 00pm-06 : 30am), 0600-1430 (6 : 00am-2 : 30pm) & 1400-2230 (2 : 00pm-10 : 30pm)

this position has a multi-month training protocol that must be executed after adjudication from 10 : 00pm-6 : 00am - once proficient with training, schedule will be adapted to open schedule as discussed by Administrative Site Lead*

Dispatcher Level 1 Hourly Wage : $25.00 + Optional Health & Welfare Stipend of $4.98, effectively making the hourly rate $29.98 / HR

Responsibilities :

  • Answer all telephone calls and document all pertinent information.
  • Monitor intrusion detection systems following automated alarm monitoring software instructions, initiate internal or police response based on defined criteria, accurately capture event information, confirm accuracy of data recorded in the alarm database, and interact with Postal employees including Inspectors, customers, and police departments.
  • Coordinate first responder notification.
  • Operate and monitor communications via the National Law Enforcement Communication Center radio communications network.
  • Receive and transmit communications on National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and the National Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (NLETS) inquiries.
  • Access to various intelligence information as required.
  • Ensure all equipment and software located in the NLECC is functioning properly. Immediately report any and all equipment malfunctions to the Lead Dispatcher.
  • Knowledge of NLECC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Ensure proper care for personal accountable items issued for job performance while on site.
  • Monitor after-hours phone traffic

Qualifications :

  • Possess or able to obtain an Sensitive Public Trust security clearance
  • initial Sensitive Public Trust adjudication process can take up to 2 months from submission
  • Be a citizen of the United States of America and 21 years of age or older;
  • Have a minimum 6 months previous satisfactory work experience as a law enforcement dispatcher, or dispatcher in civilian or military environments or 6 months experience in central station alarm monitoring or 6 months experience as a security dispatcher .
  • Be capable of maintaining professionalism under highly stressful situations;
  • Be literate in the English language to the extent of reading and understanding printed regulations, written orders and instructions, training instructions, and be able to compose reports which convey complete information;
  • Be capable of hearing ordinary phone and radio conversation with either ear;
  • Possess strong computer and data entry skills ( typing proficiency at 45-50 WPM ), including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
  • Experience with alarm monitoring software is desirable;
  • Must have the ability to interact professionally with co-workers, postal employees, customers, management and the public;
  • Possess ability to prioritize work from different communication sources (radio, telephone, alarm monitoring software) and reprioritize as needed;
  • Must be able to work set shifts on a schedule covering 24 X 7 facility operations, that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays;
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English to co-workers, postal employees, customers, and management;
  • Advancement will be contingent upon obtaining and maintaining dispatcher certification. Personnel must obtain Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services Central Station Dispatcher Certification and it must be kept current.
