Positions in this sub-family are responsible for providing IT functional / technical / strategic consulting and assisting businesses and other organizations to operate their IT software / hardware systems more efficiently by identifying and measuring problems, and recommending, customizing and implementing solutions.

Depending on the organization, consulting projects include conducting organizational studies and evaluations; designing IT systems and procedures, and conducting work and process studies.

Activities include developing and managing client relationships and managing project timelines, budgets, fees and outcomes.

Establishes and implements strategies that have short to mid-term (1-3 years) impact on business results in alignment with parent / corporate organization objectives.

  • Leads multiple teams of directors / senior managers, and managers.
  • Develops short to mid-term (1-3 years) plans for optimizing the organization, function, or sub-function and the talent required to execute strategies in job area.

THE ROLE

The Managing Director (MD) of Advisory Services is the business line leader accountable for the overall strategy and financial performance of their practice as well as employee and client satisfaction within their vertical.

These responsibilities extend from the development of the budget through to the practice’s achievement of revenue and contribution goals.

The MD is responsible for identifying growth opportunities and developing solutions to proactively react to their changing market.

They are expected to perform as the subject matter expert to develop client solutions and to oversee and grow a team of consultants, including overseeing consultant hiring, placement and career development within the practice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Managing Director Advisory Services will be responsible for, but not limited to :

LEADERSHIP

  • Developing and executing a business line strategy that focuses on innovative product solutions to meet evolving client needs, while having direct accountability for overall profit and loss and consultant management responsibilities
  • Representing Nordic in collaboration with client leadership to understand challenges and opportunities and ensuring we maintain Nordic’s reputation of quality and value through successful delivery of client engagements
  • Demonstrating Nordic’s maxims with enthusiasm, optimism and courage
  • Directly managing, mentoring and developing a team of direct reports focused on attracting, placing, and growing the assigned practice team members, with emphasis on creating a team and culture that is empowered to execute
  • Attracting, retaining, and developing a team of top-caliber talent; serving as an advocate internally for consultant needs related to placement, extensions, and career development
  • Making decisions quickly and decisively, often with limited information

BUSINESS LINE MANAGEMENT

  • Establishing, overseeing and directing a team to achieve annual revenue and profitability as well as operational goals for the assigned practice area such as : consultant quality, consultant utilization, consultant and client satisfaction and retention
  • Collaborating with internal partners to develop and deliver the practice’s marketing strategy including : sales collateral, website content, and additional client-facing materials, as well as to recruit prospective Nordic employees
  • Understanding market availability of resources and demand for services to evaluate and adjust pricing and delivery strategies as needed
  • Partnering with the Client Partnerships team to continuously grow new and expand existing client relationships; providing client executive sponsorship and oversight as needed to ensure client satisfaction and success
  • Traveling to customer sites and conferences to generate new business opportunities and relationships, as well as enhancing current relationships
  • Participating in the creation of customized proposals in response to RFP and solution requests
  • Partnering with the practice team members to analyze client needs and identifying the best match of Nordic’s services and consultants to address those needs, while consistently seeking to attract the best talent to the practice in collaboration with recruitment team
  • Staying current on healthcare-related topics, inclusive of product innovations and competitor research, and seeking professional development by attending seminars, tradeshows, and other pertinent events to help grow the business
  • Acting as industry expert and providing thought leadership through presentations at various conferences and healthcare-related events to build avenues for customer engagement and strong Nordic brand recognition
  • Working on business operations projects that may be assigned on an ad hoc basis and may assist other corporate initiatives as necessary

DELIVERY EXCELLENCE

  • Establishing quality control of service delivery, maintaining Nordic’s reputation of quality and value while serving as an escalation point to assist in rapid resolution of any client, team member or operational challenges
  • Working to continually optimize processes and workflows to improve client and consultant experience, generate efficiencies and achieve cost savings
  • Contribute to the creation of net new marketable solutions and the processes and tools to support their sell-ability and delivery;

coordinate with large cross-Nordic teams to create OneNordic solutions that rely on several business lines to deliver

  • Collaborate across geographic regions covered by the Nordic family of businesses to develop and maintain a OneNordic methodology for service delivery
  • Stay up to date on EHR vendor approaches and changes and adjust our methodology to respect changes in the industry
  • Support practitioners of our services through contributing to training content, hosting educational sessions or groups and sharing knowledge across Nordic team members

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must demonstrate and embody Nordic’s Maxims
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, required
  • In-depth knowledge of EHR services and business line offerings required
  • 10+ years’ experience with healthcare systems as a vendor, consultant, or direct hospital employee
  • 5+ years’ experience as a senior leader of a division or department, including responsibility for financial performance and experience leading service-oriented teams within a healthcare, consulting, or healthcare IT vendor organization
  • 5+ years’ experience in extending healthcare IT systems to independent, merged, or acquired facilities
  • Exhibits strength in managing and relating to people, including ability to deliver feedback and inspire and motivate others to succeed
  • Exhibits strong business acumen, including an understanding of financial metrics and how to lead a professional services team in alignment with organizational goals
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting customer service and employee commitments and project timelines
  • Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization, as well as with diverse candidates, consultants, and client bases
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in the work environment and to alter approach or method to successfully lead change;

reacting well under pressure

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, CRM technologies, and other collaboration tools, including virtual meeting technologies
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Must be able to work independently as well as within a team environment

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • Relocation to Madison, WI, is not required, however, regular trips to the Nordic Home Office in Madison, WI will be expected
