About this opportunity :
- Plans, develops, implements, leads, and evaluates a comprehensive educational program designed to assist persons to better their lifestyles through education;
- researches and develops effective and innovative course materials; documents program activities and attendance as well as client progress;
builds and maintains effective and professional relationships with clients and other community agencies; provides referrals as needed.
Key responsibilities :
- Plans, develops, coordinates, schedules, instructs and supervises a variety of educational programs such as parenting, day-care, nutrition, AIDS, drug awareness, life-skills classes, etc.
- Evaluates program participant’s personal needs and progress to determine if programs are effective or if additional assistance / referrals are needed.
- Compiles and disseminates educational, organizational, and agency information for use in classes and distribution to the public.
- Recruits, assigns, monitors, and evaluates all volunteer staff participating in conducting educational programs; prepares and maintains up-to-date records of volunteer and community service participants of educational programs.
- Attends all program classes lead by volunteers to ensure continuity of the classes and to observe clients’ progress; verifies each case for completion before signing and issuing certificates.
- Provides educational, recreational and cultural programs during special seasons or events, coordinates volunteer assistance for the same.
- Prepares and maintains statistical records and required reports on all educational programs provided; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
- Prepares general correspondence and maintains accurate and up-to-date records on program participates and volunteers.
- Performs community relations functions to promote programs by speaking to groups and coordinating volunteer efforts; coordinates services with other community resources;
serves as The Salvation Army representative at community meetings, boards, and conferences.
What we are looking for in you :
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
- Valid State Driver’s License.
- Two (2) years’ experience developing and leading educational programs with a concentration in life management and health related course work.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
Work is performed in a normal office or classroom environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
