General Notes

This position has an end date of 8 / 31 / 25 but may be renewable based upon the availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward goals.

Must be willing and available for eight hours of work per day between 7 : 00AM-7 : 00PM with occasional weekend and after-hours events.

This position will be assigned remote and on-campus with an expectation to work on-site for some of the scheduled work week.

Remote work will require reliable internet access and a suitable private workspace free from distractions. A flexible working arrangement agreement will be required upon offer.

The employee will provide child and adolescent mental health educational activities with Independent School Districts (ISDs), communities, and providers across our region.

Educational activities are delivered in virtual, face-to-face, and hybrid environments. Conducts integrated training needs assessments and monitors and reports the effectiveness of training.

Delivers evidence-based Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM) curriculum to middle and high school students (training provided).

This is a federally funded position sponsored by the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC). TCMHCC was created by the 86th Texas Legislature to leverage the expertise and capacity of the health-related institutions of higher education to address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in this state in relation to children and adolescents.

Purpose

The University of Texas, Dell Medical School (DMS), is a Health Research Institute (HRI) for the Texas Children’s Mental Health Care Consortium.

The program and projects of the HRI work to address the clinical needs of the programs which address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in Texas for children and adolescents.

This position will implement Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM), an evidence and school-based program for adolescents in 8th-12th grade, in which youth are educated on mental health topics through active learning, role-play, and student-led discussions.

Responsibilities

Implements training and education programs specific to the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT), YAM program.

Travels to schools to deliver mental health promotion program (YAM) and other related HRI projects with groups of junior high and high school students.

Provides middle and high school students with mental health educational activities with Independent School Districts (ISDs), communities, and providers across the HRI region.

Works with school counselors and teachers to provide education and training on the curriculum to ensure student safety and program fidelity.

Serves as a point-of-contact on logistics and operations of YAM implementation. Coordinates training events by determining and securing date, time, and understanding class size.

Maintains training schedules. Collaborates with the Outreach and Communication team to provide support in building district relationships through presentations, outreach visits, technical assistance, and other.

Assembles appropriate references, technical supports, and back-up materials.

Coordinates with Program Coordinators to gather appropriate evaluations of the services provided. Collects student and school level data, as directed by the Program Coordinator and / or leadership.

Provides reports regarding the performance of the classroom and / or learning experience(s) by soliciting feedback / assessment regarding course materials, development tools, delivery method and post-training performance.

Assists with tracking data and reports.

Supports the Program Coordinator with planning, development and execution of recruitment, implementation, communication, and reporting plans.

Collaborates with school partners to ensure student safety and program fidelity. Participates in consultation calls and booster trainings.

Collaborates with additional YAM facilitators to support the delivery of YAM in local schools and serves a planned number of students.

Verbally and in-writing collaborates and communicates with team members and colleagues (internal and external), schools, other colleges and universities, and other stakeholders.

Ensures professional and accurate documentation. Drafts, edits, and prepares correspondence, reports and other material using word processing, spreadsheets and / or databases.

Provides phone and virtual technical assistance to partners and school district personnel. Collaborates with the Outreach and Communication team to provide additional support in building school and community relationships through presentations, outreach visits, technical assistance, and other.

Schedules virtual and on-site meetings, trainings, webinars, and events among team members, partners, and / or participating school district and medical practice personnel.

Manages email correspondence. Creates agendas, arranges logistical details, and organizes receipts and documentation necessary for reimbursement.

Completes special projects.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the work to be performed with three years of experience coordinating or administering a program or Master’s degree and 1-year of experience coordinating or administering a program.

Experience in training and / or providing presentations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and / or G-Suite programs : (e.

g., Excel / Sheets, PowerPoint / Presentation, Word / Docs, Outlook / Gmail, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with groups of youth and / or adult learners. Experience delivering effective presentations and training seminars for various learner levels.

Experience working in health care or education industry. Ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced environment.

Start-up experience in any sector. High level of proficiency with at least one video conferencing platform, e.g., Zoom.

Salary Range

$45,000+ depending on qualifications

Educational activities are delivered in virtual, face-to-face, and hybrid environments. Employee is also expected to be able to work remotely in a private, safe space.

Employee is expected to attend and conduct training at various locations on and off-site, attend meetings to discuss success and obstacles of different projects, and pass additional background screening, including FBI fingerprinting, for our school and community partnerships.

Ability to perform prolonged speaking engagements.
