Job Summary
Responsible for carrier sourcing, negotiation, and related projects. Provides accurate and market-based pricing and ensures accurate rates are loaded into appropriate systems. Utilizes a firm understanding of relevant markets to communicate market insights, context, and knowledge to partners. Develops and evaluates more complex requests for proposals for commodities and services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Promotes the development and execution of department strategies and compliance. Delivers tangible Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that yield improvement within the function.
2. Develops and maintains strong working relationship with suppliers, performing excellent vendor management throughout all processes (i.e., RFI, RFP, RFQ).
3. Evaluates and monitors bid compliance by appraising the actual results verse the response provided in the bid.
4. Monitors, evaluates, interprets, and identifies insights from cost, performance, and quality data. Provides reports and recommends improvements based on data insights.
5. Executes and measures carrier performance score cards (i.e., service, capacity, cost) to identify opportunities for improvement. Addresses and promptly resolves any routine quality or performance issues with suppliers or carriers.
6. Maintains relevant carrier databases with updated information (i.e., carrier profiles, rates) and administers compliance policies.
7. Assists in the development of effective carrier relationships and finds ways to improve processes and performance.
8. Minimizes liability by reviewing and identifying available capacity for difficult lanes and recommend carriers.
9. Maintains and expands expertise by providing external research, conducting benchmarking, evaluating cost drivers, and attending relevant trainings or development courses.
10. Assists in the efforts to confirm committed capacity and negotiate carrier contracts and rates.
Minimum Qualifications (Educations & Experience)
1. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
2. 3+ years of relevant experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Risk management experience using RMIS
2. Working knowledge of contract management and negotiation
3. Firm understanding of the development and execution of Transportation Carrier Operations (i.e., Operations (financial, equipment, mode, driver issues, geographical radius)
4. Knowledge of truckload industry, major carriers, cost drivers, and transportation best practices
5. Proficient technology skills including Microsoft Suites and relevant systems (i.e., Transportation Management Systems, enterprise resource planning system, etc.)
6. Solid communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships internally and externally
7. Skilled at gathering, evaluating, and interpreting large datasets to identify trends, draw actionable conclusions, and effectively present data in reports and / or presentations
8. Solid problem-solving, time-management, and organization skills with the ability to identify and address routine issues and risks in creative and data-informed ways
9. Knowledge of process improvement and project management best practices with the ability to handle and deliver on multiple priorities simultaneously
10. Proven ability to maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent
2. Manufacturing and / or cold chain experience 3. Transportation or service procurement
4. BluJay and SAP experience
