Job Title: Prep/Line Cook

Position Summary


Mama Rosas Trattoria is seeking a reliable and motivated Prep/Line Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist with food preparation, maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization, and execute menu items efficiently while ensuring high-quality food standards. This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while contributing to a positive team atmosphere.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for service, including chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and preparing sauces and dressings.
• Set up and stock workstations with all necessary supplies.
• Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and presentation standards.
• Ensure food quality, consistency, and proper portion control.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations and storage areas.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
• Properly label, store, and rotate food products using FIFO practices.
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth service.
• Support dishwashing and general kitchen cleaning duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a prep cook, line cook, or in a commercial kitchen preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
• Food Handler Certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
