Investment Banking Analyst

Location: 127 Public Square, Cleveland Ohio

Job Summary: KeyBanc Capital Markets (KBCM) is a leading middle-market investment bank offering a full range of advisory and capital markets services. The Investment Banking Analyst is an integral member of deal teams, supporting the execution of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), capital raising, and strategic advisory transactions. Analysts are responsible for financial modeling, industry research, and the preparation of client materials. This role offers a dynamic and fast-paced environment with significant exposure to senior bankers, clients, and live transactions.

Essential Functions:

  • Build and maintain detailed financial models to support valuation and transaction analysis.
  • Conduct company and industry research to support business development and deal execution.
  • Assist in the preparation of pitch books, confidential information memoranda, management presentations, and other client deliverables.
  • Analyze financial statements and assess company performance and valuation metrics.
  • Support due diligence processes and assist in coordinating transaction execution.
  • Collaborate in office with Associates, Vice Presidents, and Managing Directors across industry and product teams.
  • Attend and actively participate in in-person team meetings, client presentations, and strategy sessions with senior bankers, fostering a collaborative office environment that enhances communication, learning, and execution effectiveness.
  • Uphold firm policies and compliance standards, including confidentiality and ethical conduct.
  • Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
  • Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key's clients and Key.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field required or equivalent experience.

Work Experience: 1+ years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, or a related financial services role (preferred). Investment Banking or high finance internship(s) (preferred).

Licenses and Certifications: FINRA Security Industry Essentials (SIE) (preferred). FINRA License S7 (preferred). FINRA License S79 (preferred). FINRA License S63 (preferred).

Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel-based modeling and valuation techniques. Ability to interpret financial data and market trends to support strategic recommendations. Skilled in gathering and synthesizing information into clear, client-ready materials. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, high-pressure environment. High level of accuracy and thoroughness in all work products. Capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting tight deadlines. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and financial databases such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, and FactSet. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities. Demonstrates maturity, discretion, and sound judgment in client and team interactions. Self-starter with a strong work ethic and a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving. Committed to delivering high-quality service and building long-term client relationships.

Work Location Category: Hybrid (Sales)

Compensation and Benefits: This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $80,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
