Position Description
The University of Saint Joseph's Department of Chemistry invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant / associate professor position in the Department of Chemistry. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in support of the chemistry, biochemistry, biology and allied health science majors as well as graduate courses for the department’s master’s programs in chemistry and biochemistry beginning in Fall 2025. The Department of Chemistry offers BS programs in Chemistry (ACS approved) and Biochemistry (ASBMB accredited) and MS programs in Chemistry and Biochemistry (both fully online).
Responsibilities include teaching lecture and laboratory courses for undergraduate courses for majors and non-majors. This position will also involve teaching online, asynchronous courses in biochemistry and organic chemistry. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active scholarship program that involves engaging and mentoring students in research that will lead to publications.
Required Skills / Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in Biochemistry, Chemistry (or closely related field) by the appointment start date is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with broad training in biological and organic chemistry. Candidates with postdoctoral experience are preferred.
- The successful candidate will have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching biological chemistry at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The ability to teach undergraduate analytical courses will also be viewed favorably.
